When it comes to iconic, readily-recognizable designs in the watch world, Rolex is certainly a brand that would be on the tip of most peoples’ tongues. This is evidenced by our own coverage here, as we have looked at quite a variety of watches that pay homage to the Crown. While there are certainly no end to the cheap (and cheaply built) in that arena, there are plenty of options (still affordable) for those looking for quality in their build. Today, we’re having a look at another in that end of the spectrum, the Davosa Professional GMT.
DAVOSA is a Swiss/German watch maker whose main modus operandi is to use Swiss movements with good quality "homage" watch designs meant to satisfy the needs of watch lovers looking for particular styles but not wanting to pay the higher prices of most Swiss watch brands. There are other companies like Davosa out there, and honestly, there are a lot of good things to say about them. (...) While you do get watches with "derivative” designs, you often have extremely impressive quality at what is often an exceptionally fair price.
With so many ambitious young start-ups vying for attention on Kickstarter these days, it’s sometimes easy to overlook the fact that there are established, experienced and well-regarded brands out there that quietly go about their business of producing a wide range of quality watches. Just such a brand is DAVOSA.
DIAL The Argonautic Automatic has a matte black dial with large white baton shaped markers and an oversized triangular mark at 12 o’clock. The dial is clean and simple with only a few lines of white text the name Argonautic in red. There's a date window at 3 - yes, it's white - not such a fan of that but it has also been double framed in white in case it didn't already stand out.
I was on the lookout for a nice dress and casual watch for a while and when I saw this attractive watch I knew I have to get it. Davosa is not a brand that I’ve heard of and I went digging for more info. It’s actually a German brand established in 1993 but its roots can be traced back as far as 1861 to a family of farmers and watchmakers in Switzerland. While the company is German, but the watches are Swiss made.

My first mechanical watch ever was from a company called Marcello C. which operates in a similar way.
Hey everyone, today we’re taking a look at the 10 most popular Davosa watches for men. These are some of the top recommended, most often purchased Davosa watches currently available. Davosa have been creating stunning timepieces for over 200 years. They focus on luxury watches with attention to detail and awe-inspiring craftsmanship. They often feature high quality components like Swiss automatic movements, sapphire glass, and high water resistance ratings. All the watches featured here are Swiss made.
Davosa is a brand that doesn’t get much air time, but whenever we’ve taken a look at their watches, we have been pleasantly surprised. They are a bit different from what else is out there, pursuing their own concepts, and they keep prices fairly low. The last one we reviewed, the Vanguard, is actually one of the nicer dress/casual watches we’ve seen. It had a nice, vintage design, an elegant and very thin case and solid finishing. At under $1,000, it’s a winner.
Davosa is a brand that does things a little differently. Their designs are interesting and their prices are fair for a Swiss made watch. (...) This time, we’ll be examining a watch that is somewhat the opposite of that… a bold, modern diver with mean looks and a dark palette. The Argonautic Ceramic in Gun Metal has a fierce presence that is the result of a bold dial design, high contrast bezel, and a dark grey case.
